Another photo taken last winter in Norway on one of my walks home from work. There's a different feel in the air when you're that far north - especially when it's snowing and dark. The beauty often took my breath away.
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. - Henry David Thoreau
My last night in Norway, I slept in the studio because I was working late and wanted to accomplish as much as possible before leaving. Here's a peek at what I slept on... ;)
On Christmas Day, I drove with my family to Kansas City to see the beautiful posh shopping district that’s decorated with thousands of lights. Horse drawn carriages in the shape of pumpkins were taking people to and fro and everyone was festive. We started out at a convenience store/gas station to get a hot cocoa for the walk. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I walked in to see the beverage selection! This was just half of the offerings they had on tap. Behind me was the coffee station where they had about 10 different flavours of coffee and cocoa and to the right of this photo, was the ice tea station where they had a few different flavours of freshly brewed ice tea. Further to the right was the refridgerator section. Everything on tap was available in a bottle or can from there – including 12 packs. Then they had wines and beers and snacks of all sorts in the middle isles, including a variety of hot dogs and hot Mexican burritos. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention – in the coffee section there was a machine that squirted out your favourite flavour of cream – a freebie extra. I am definitely back in the USA! I chose a mocha chai latte and it was delicious! Thankfully, it was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. It had been 5-20 degrees since I arrived 10 days prior and it was so nice that it warmed up for Christmas. The day after, the temp rose to 60 degrees! My mother and I went for a walk and I didn’t even need a coat. Bliss.
Oh, and one more thing, my brother flies kites and has a "kite cam" that he gets some pretty good shots with. Here's a pic of him walking back from shooting in Kansas City and there's another pic of my parent's house at sunset from the day before.
